A UPG file is a firmware upgrade file for a hardware device such as a wireless network card or a printer. To open a UPG file, you need to use the installation application that the file ships with. In most cases, the UPG file is the data file that is included in the installation folder along with the installation executable, or EXE, file. The EXE file calls and uses the UPG file during the firmware upgrade process.
Locate the executable EXE file associated with the upgrade UPG file. This file may be named something like Setup.exe.
Double-click on the EXE file to run the firmware upgrade installation. The installation program launches.
Click the "Browse" button and navigate to the UPG file. Click on the UPG file and click "Open." If you are not prompted to navigate to and select the UPG file, chances are the file is automatically found -- perhaps by being located in the same directory -- and loaded by the firmware upgrade installation routine.
Do not run the firmware upgrade installation unless you want to upgrade the designated firmware. Click "Cancel" when prompted to quit the program.
