If you are a student studying the fashion industry, then one of the best things you can do for your future career is obtain a fashion internship. However, fashion internships are highly competitive, and there will likely be a lot of very talented fashion students who are competing with you for the same spot. To increase your odds of being accepted into an internship, you might decide to apply to several places. You can facilitate the application process by creating your own fashion internship letter template that can be altered slightly, depending on the internship you are applying to.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Type your full name and current contact information at the top of the internship letter template. This will be included on all the cover letters you send.

  2. 2

Leave a space below your name to add the name of the fashion company you are sending the letter to and their contact information. You need to change this with each letter.

  3. 3

Leave another space for the date. The date should be added when you plan to mail each letter.

  4. 4

Start your greeting by typing "Dear." The name of a specific person should be added after this greeting.

  5. 5

Skip a few lines to add the first paragraph. This paragraph states how you heard of the internship opportunity, and so it will be different for each opportunity you apply to.

  6. 6

List your major accomplishments so far in the fashion industry. Use your most impressive experience, such as past internships, working for a fashion magazine or the degree you are receiving or have received. Be sure to list what you learnt about the industry from each of your accomplishments.

  7. 7

Thank the recipient of your fashion internship letter for taking the time to review your application letter and supporting materials.

  8. 8

Sign your name at the bottom of the letter under a formal closing, such as "Best regards."

Tips and warnings

  • To ensure that you remember to make the appropriate changes to the template, try highlighting the areas that need to be changed, using your word processing program. As you fill them in the required information for each application, remove the highlight feature.
