Of all the aspects of a man's appearance, hair is one of the most important. It is one of the first things people notice when he walks into the room, making groomed hair an important part of making a good first impression. Unfortunately, for those with thick, curly or coarse hair, grooming is often a challenge. Thanks to the availability of small-width flattening irons and oil from the argan tree, men have the ability to straighten their hair without the need for harsh chemical relaxers.

  1. 1

Plug your 1/2-inch flattening iron into an electrical socket and set the temperature to medium.

  2. 2

Squeeze a dime-sized drop of argan tree oil into the palm of your hand. Argan tree oil is available online and at most beauty supply stores.

  3. 3

Rub your palms together to spread the argan tree oil evenly across both palms.

  4. 4

Massage the argan tree oil thoroughly into your hair. The oil will condition your hair and protect it from the heat of the flattening iron.

  5. 5

Comb out and separate a small section of hair.

  6. 6

Press the heating plates of the flattening iron together at the base of the separated section of hair and slowly pull the flattening iron outward away from your scalp.

  7. 7

Repeat Steps 5 and 6 on additional sections of hair until all areas are treated. Depending on how thick your hair is, it may be necessary to treat sections of hair multiple times to achieve the desired effect.

Tips and warnings

  • Do not let the flattening iron's heating plates rest on a section of hair for more than five seconds. This can damage or burn your hair.
