  1. 1

Fill the bottom of a wicker gift basket with decorative filler featuring your boyfriend's favourite colour, such as green paper shreds or blue tissue paper.

  2. 2

Place nutritious or comforting food items such as apples, oranges, a box of soda crackers, homemade heart-shaped sugar cookies, dried fruit, nuts, herbal tea and honey into the basket. Make a chicken soup-in-a-jar gift by layering 1 1/2 tsp of chicken bouillon granules, 1 cup of egg noodles, 2 tbsp of dried onion flakes, 1/4 tsp of garlic powder and 1 bay leaf in a canning jar. Arrange the basket so the tallest items are in the back and the shortest are in the front for a neat appearance.

  3. 3

Roll up the latest copy of one of your boyfriend's favourite magazines and place it into the basket. Tuck in a pair of warm, soft slippers or socks as well.

  4. 4

Attach curling balloon ribbon or twine to a helium balloon featuring a "get well soon" message. Tie the ribbon to the gift basket handle.
