How to clean leatherette

Leatherette is an artificial leather fabric that has the feel of vinyl or plastic. This type of fabric is typically used for furniture and automobile seats, and requires little maintenance. To keep the leatherette clean you should use cleaning products that leave no film behind on the smooth textured fabric, and make sure the cleaner you use is not damaging to the leatherette.

  • Dish soap
  • Water
  • Spray bottle

Instructions

    Mix 1 tbsp dish soap with 2 cups water in a spray bottle. Shake the spray bottle to dissolve the soap, and let the suds dissipate.

    Spray the mixture over your leatherette and wipe off with a damp cleaning rag.

  3. 3

    Rinse the cleaning rag when finished, wring out and wipe over the leatherette to remove soapy residue.

    Dry the leatherette with a clean rag.
