The Microsoft "Flight Simulator" series is one of the most realistic flight simulation experiences available. Game graphics include cockpits, sounds, scenes, aircraft types, and even liveries. You can change the paint of individual aircraft types to a new airline livery in Flight Simulator X by downloading a new one from the Internet and installing it in the game. You can change the default livery of the aircraft on the game to one you prefer.

Download the livery you want from an online source (see "Resources"). Make sure that you are downloading the livery for the aircraft you wish to change the paint on for example a 737.
Go to the recent downloads in the Windows "Start" menu. Click on the filename of the zipped downloaded file. The file will be unpacked for you and a new window will open with the file contents. Double click through the folders "simobjects", "airplanes", "<aircraft type for example "B737_800">" until you see the folder "Texture.Q."
Open the folder "\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\<The type of plane you are changing the paint on for example "B737_800">" in a separate window. Drag the "Texture.Q." folder into this window.
Double-click on the "aircraft.cfg" file in the folder you dragged "Texture.Q" into. if prompted, then use "Notepad" to open it.
Copy and paste the following text over the matching area in the file. Change the aircraft number and name to the one you are installing.
title=Boeing 737-800 Qantas
Save the file and exit "Notepad." The aircraft livery will now be changed when you select it in FSX.
