If you're switching to a new computer or upgrading your PC's operating system then you might worry about losing your sent, received and archived e-mail messages. If you use the free IncrediMail e-mail program then you can export all data, including e-mail messages, to the new computer. To export e-mail messages from IncrediMail 2, use the program's Data and Settings Transfer tool.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

    Launch IncrediMail 2.

  2. 2

Click "File" on the main program menu, then select "Data and Settings Transfer Wizard" from the drop-down menu. Click "Export Data and Settings" on the context menu.

  3. 3

Click the "Next" button in the Export Data and Settings dialogue box.

  4. 4

Click the "Browse" button to select a save location for the exported IncrediMail data on your computer. Skip this step if you want to use the default location suggested by IncrediMail. Click the check box beside "'I Would Also Like to Export my Content (Letters, Notifiers, Skins, etc.)" if you want to export these items in addition to your e-mail messages. Click the "Next" button.

  5. 5

Wait for the data export process to finish. IncrediMail displays a dialogue box with a progress bar during this process. When prompted, click the "Finish" button in the dialogue box. This exports your IncrediMail e-mail messages and data to the save location on your computer.

Tips and warnings

  • IncrediMail will save your e-mail messages and data in a folder named "IncrediMail Transferred Data" in your chosen save location. Transfer the folder and its contents to removable storage media, such as an external hard drive or a CD data disk, so that you can copy the data to your new or upgraded computer later on.
