Research different skyscrapers on the Internet and in your own city if you live in one. Obtain inspiration and ideas for your own design. Sketch ideas on a separate piece of paper to get an idea of what you want to draw before you begin.
Sketch a basic guideline for your first skyscraper design. Draw a standard skyscraper building and from this you can experiment with different shapes and designs. Use a ruler to draw two straight lines in the shape of a long rectangle. Draw a line across the top. Inside of the building draw several straight vertical and then horizontal lines to create window frames. Now you have a basic outline of a skyscraper you can manipulate.
Experiment with different designs. Use the guideline and draw diagonal lines cutting across your skyscraper. Design the building diagonally as if each side is criss-crossing upward until the top. Draw a sharp diagonal line for the roof and add in zigzag windows to encompass the overall unstructured and diagonal pattern of your design.
Create a modern circular skyscraper. Curve all off your lines into a neat egg shape. Your building should resemble the shape of an egg. Add diamond shaped windows that will curve around your unusual shape and add a large round door at the bottom to create a unique entrance.
Sketch in the details of your skyscraper designs. This is what will make your designs come to life. Think about windows, doors and materials. Decide whether you want several small windows or large round windows. Add in solar panels on the windows to create a skyscraper economically friendly and modern in design.
Colour in your skyscraper designs. Think about your design carefully and decide what atmosphere do you want to create. Colour in your building subtly with dark greys and blacks or make your design stand out with bright colours. After all it is your design so take it where you want.
Outline your final design with a thin black marker and highlight all the details.
