How to Make a Lattice Fold Template

Craft a lattice template in order to make a decorative party invitation, bridal shower card or scrapbooking page. Once you have created the template, you can use it multiple times to create the design effect you want for your handmade craft projects. Try to use materials that you already have around your house. A template needs to be crafted from a sturdy section of paper -- such as a shoebox or a larger cardboard box.

  1. 1

Print out a free lattice template that you like from a free design or card-making website such as Lost Coast Designs, Images by Heather M or Crafts U Print. Print the design on an 8 1/2-by-11-inch sheet of computer paper.

  2. 2

    Cut out the lattice design.

  3. 3

Flatten a shoebox or other cardboard box. Lay the lattice cutout on the cardboard. Trace the lattice design onto the cardboard.

  4. 4

Cut out the design using a pair of scissors. Because the lattice work requires cutting out diamond-shaped holes, you also might want to place the cardboard on a cutting mat and use a retractable craft knife.

  5. 5

Use your cardboard lattice template to trace lattice designs onto card stock used to make handmade cards or scrapbook pages.
