One new feature of the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system is the virtual Wi-Fi miniport adaptor. This adaptor is utilised for software access point connections and may not initially show up in the Network Connections page in Windows 7. However, the adaptor is installed and enabled, by default, when Windows 7 is installed. To disable the virtual Wi-Fi miniport adaptor, first you make Windows 7 recognise and list the device in Network Connections, and then you will be able to disable the device.
