Use your cutters to cut the connector off of one of your USB cables. Make sure there is an inch or two of cable running from the connector as you will need to splice this to the other cable.
Use the stripper portion of your wire cutters to strip about one-half an inch of sheath off of the connector cable you just cut. Be careful not to cut through the actual wiring.
Cut one end off of the other cable, leaving the same type of connector on the cable as the one you just cut off and stripped.
Strip about a one-half an inch of sheath off of the end of the cable you just cut.
Twist the exposed wiring from the two different pieces of cables together to form the connection. Match the colours from each cable when connecting them.
Wrap the exposed wiring with electrical tape, making sure you leave no wiring exposed. You will now have the same connectors at each end of the cable.
