iTunes organises its contents based on default settings that order files without requiring input from the user. For Podcasts, iTunes automatically organises each newly downloaded file based on its release date. This is different from how iTunes sorts music, movies and other media. With music, for instance, users can sort by artist, title, or genre. The Podcast section can only be organised by date. To change the order of your podcasts, you must remove them from the Podcasts category.

Open iTunes. Go to "File" and select "New Playlist." Click on the new playlist that opens. Change its name to "Podcasts."
Click "Podcasts" under the "Library" section of the left panel. Click one of the podcasts that you want to reorder, or hold down the Ctrl key and click on each of the podcasts that you want to reorder.
Click and hold on the selected podcasts, then drag them to the "Podcasts" playlist that you created.
Select "View" from the main tool bar. Select "View Options" from the menu. This opens a window displaying track information. Click on the box labelled "Comments." Click "OK."
Scroll to the left in your playlist until you see the section labelled "Comments." Click on the podcast that you want to appear first. Click this file again under. This allows you to add a comment. Press "1." Edit the "Comments" section of each podcast, assigning numbers based on the order that you want them to appear.
Click the word "Comments" in the top bar of the iTunes window. Your podcasts will be reordered in the sequence that you selected.
Tips and warnings
- You can edit the information in any category of your podcasts once you've placed them in your new playlist. For instance, you can add numbers to the names of each podcast, then sort by name if you'd prefer not to do the numbering in the "Comments" section.
