The Raytech TV-5 is a vibratory rock tumbler for smoothing and polishing gemstones, cabochons, small slabs and seashells. Vibratory tumblers function by moving the grinding grit against the stones in a circular manner, accompanied by high-frequency vibration. Unlike rotary tumblers, the vibrating process does not round the corners off stones and better preserves the stone's natural shape. The TV-5 comes with a spare tumbling bowl and four grades of abrasive polishing grit.

Instructions

    Rough Grind

  1. 1

Fill the tumbling bowl to capacity with rinsed stones.

  2. 2

Add 4 teaspoons of water, if the stones are dry. If the stones are still wet from rinsing, use half that amount of water.

  3. 3

Add two teaspoons of Silicon/Carbide 100/120 grinding grit. Place the lid on the bowl and turn on the TV-5 for 5 to 10 days.

  4. 4

Add another two teaspoons of Silicon Carbide 100/120 grit every 12 hours. Rinse out the sludge and add fresh new grit and water every 24 hours. Add additional water, if evaporation dries out the stones between changes.
