How to Disable the WiFi Button on an HP Pavilion Laptop

Your HP Pavilion laptop comes with a wireless switch that can toggle your wireless receiver off and on. You might want to disable your wireless networking capabilities if you are using the laptop in a wired Internet configuration, if you are in a location where you cannot have wireless enabled or if you are looking to slow down battery drain on the laptop.

    Check the HP Pavilion's Wi-Fi status light to determine whether it is already disabled. If the light is blue, it is not disabled already.

    Press "F12" on your laptop's keyboard. The light should change from blue to orange.

    Check your wireless connection icon in your system tray. The icon should have a X over it because the computer cannot currently connect to a wireless network. Windows might also give you an error message.
