Your HP Pavilion laptop comes with a wireless switch that can toggle your wireless receiver off and on. You might want to disable your wireless networking capabilities if you are using the laptop in a wired Internet configuration, if you are in a location where you cannot have wireless enabled or if you are looking to slow down battery drain on the laptop.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Check the HP Pavilion's Wi-Fi status light to determine whether it is already disabled. If the light is blue, it is not disabled already.

  2. 2

Press "F12" on your laptop's keyboard. The light should change from blue to orange.

  3. 3

Check your wireless connection icon in your system tray. The icon should have a X over it because the computer cannot currently connect to a wireless network. Windows might also give you an error message.
