The Acer Aspire One notebook includes a recovery partition on the hard drive that contains all of the data necessary to hard-reset the computer to factory conditions. Acer eRecovery Management, the tool that allows you to restore the PC to its original state, is accessible as soon as you turn on the computer, enabling you to perform a hard reset even if you can't boot up the operating system.
Turn on the Acer Aspire One. Press "F2" to access the BIOS utility.
Use the left- and right-arrow keys to select the "Main" menu. Use the up- and down-arrow keys to select "D2D Recovery."
Confirm the option is set to "Enabled." If the option is configured as "Disabled," press "F5" or "F6" to turn on D2D Recovery.
Press "F10" to save the changes and restart the computer. Press "Alt" and "F10" when the boot screen appears to enable D2D Recovery.
Follow the directions on the screen to perform a hard reset of the Acer Aspire One. D2D Recovery will format the hard drive and restore the netbook to its factory state.
D2D Recovery will erase all of the data on the hard drive. Store your personal files to another storage device before performing a hard reset.
