The Lenovo ThinkPad R61 comes with built-in wireless networking that you can toggle on and off. You may need to toggle the wireless off when you are travelling, or when you need to save battery life. The wireless will not work until you toggle it back on, so you need to do that to allow Windows to scan for and connect to the wireless networks around you.
