Napoleon Bonaparte is generally considered as a great leader, while also a ruthless and skilful dictator during his reign over France during the 1700s and early 1800s. His contributions to not only military logistics and tactics, but also other areas such as fiscal and legal reforms in France, were seen as innovative and genius. During his reign in the area of fashion, a review of costume indicates that the upper class wore elaborate cothes, while the lower classes, which included the French peasant, wore simple garments. These costumes are not difficult to reproduce.

  1. 1

Get a fabric of lightweight material for a woman's must white long sleeve blouse. The fabric should be generously cut and give the appearance of billowing. A dark coloured corset vest must be worn over the top of the blouse, preferably a leather vest. The vest can lace up or button, but should be worn closed. A long straight brown or tan skirt should be worn on the bottom, and your hair should be held back with a blue or light blue coloured scarf.

  2. 2

Get a pattern from your local sewing or crafts store In order to make the women's costume. If you do not sew, you can simply be creative. If you opt for the second option, first check your closet to see if you own any of the items required for the costume. If not, then visit your local thrift shop to buy any other items needed for the wardrobe. For a large, billowy blouse, buy a blouse in an extra large size, or check with any male friends. If you cannot find a leather vest, just use a men's suit jacket vest. You can also use a stapler, glue gun, safety pins and needle and thread to embellish and correct any minor details on the costume if necessary.

  3. 3

Get for a man a large white shirt with long sleeves, similar to a women's blouse. The shirt must appear billowy. The shirt can be worn with a thin belt or a rope or cord wrapped around the waist. A brown or black vest may be worn over the shirt, and brown tight trousers or tights should be worn underneath. A pair of boots should also be worn.

  4. 4

Buy a pattern for sewing the male peasant costume from your local sewing or crafts store. As with the woman's outfit, you can easily make this costume from items in your closet or by visiting your local thrift store. You may also find the large blouse in a female friend or family member's closet. The rope for around the waist could be a curtain tie back from a home goods store. For the trousers, use either tight-fitting brown trousers, or buy a pair of large brown tights. 0 Add boots to complete the costume.
