Cydia is an installer package loaded onto jailbroken iPod Touches. When a user jailbreaks her iPod Touch, she loads software onto the unit that allows her to install third-party apps on the iPod. If you want to remove Cydia with SSH Transfer Protocol, you need to gain access to the iPod Touch's IP address. Once your SSH connects into the iPod, you'll be able to remove the Cydia package remotely from your computer.

  1. 1

Open a web browser and go to "What Is My IP?" "IP Addres World," or "IP Address Location." See the Resources link. Write down the IP address for your home network. This is the same IP address for your iPod.

  2. 2

Open your SSH software and click on the "IP Address" icon. Type the IP address of your iPod Touch into the field.

  3. 3

Type "root" into the user field and "alpine" into the password field. Click "Connect" on your SSH software to connect to the iPod Touch through SSH. This should take about 10 seconds.

  4. 4

Click on the "Applications" folder once the SSH software has connected. Click on the "Cydia" folder and then press the "Delete" button to delete the software from your iPod.
