Unlike the Xbox 360 controller, you cannot simply plug the PS3 controller into a computer port and use it to play computer games. You can, however, install special drivers on the computer that makes the PS3 controller act like an Xbox 360 controller on your computer. This allows you to play your computer games, like the free first-person shooting game "Crossfire," using your PS3 controller.

Things you need

  1. 1

Connect the PS3 controller to the computer using the mini USB cable that comes with the controller. Download the Motioninjoy drivers from the developer's website and install them.

  2. 2

Open the DS3 Tool that is installed with the Motioninjoy drivers and click the "Load Driver" option. This links the Motioninjoy drivers with the PS3 controller so it can be used as a gamepad on the computer.

  3. 3

Click the "Profiles" tab on the DS3 Tool and click the "Xbox 360 Controller Emulator" option. Click the "Enable" button. This makes the computer see the PS3 controller as an Xbox 360 controller.

  4. 4

Open "Crossfire" on the computer and use the PS3 controller to play.

Tips and warnings

  • Click the "Disconnect" button on the DS3 Tool main window to properly disconnect the PS3 controller.
