The skull and crossbones symbol has several meanings, depending on its context. Popular culture often associates it with the Jolly Roger, the flag that marked pirate ships and some military vehicles. Chemicals use the skull and crossbones to label highly toxic substances. Sports teams and fraternities also use the symbol. On computers, you can insert the Unicode symbol for the skull and crossbones using the "alt code" keyboard shortcut.
