While there are very few WWE wrestlers who wear masks, you or someone you know may have the desire to create their own WWE-inspired mask. Whether you are modelling the mask on an actual wrestler's look or you would like to create your own, it does not take much time to make your own mask at home using supplies that can be found at your local craft-and-hobby store.
- Skill level:
Things you need
- Scratch paper
- 198gr leather
- Leather shears
- Craft knife
- Hot water
- Acrylic paint
- Paint brush
- Hot glue gun (optional)
- Extra accessories such as glitter, rhinestones, etc. (optional)
- String or ribbon
- Balaclava motorcycle face mask in your choice of colour
Draw an outline for your mask on scratch paper and trace the design onto 198gr leather.
Use leather shears to cut out the design and use a craft knife to cut out eye holes and holes on each side of the mask that you will later attach to string.
Fill a bowl with hot water and submerge the mask you cut out in it until you no longer see any bubbles coming off of the mask.
Press the mask cut out over the wearer's face to customise its shape.
Place the mask cut out in a 265-degree oven for 15 to 25 minutes, or until the mask has dried. Check the mask frequently, about every five minutes. You want the mask to be just to the point of being dry. Over-drying it could cause the mask to crumble.
Allow the mask to cool.
Use acrylic paint and paint brushes to decorate the mask. Sprinkle glitter on the wet paint, if you are using it.
Use a glue gun to attach any extra accessories if you are using them.
Tie string or ribbon to the holes you cut on each side of the mask. The string needs to be long enough for you to tie the mask around your head.
To wear the mask, put on a balaclava motorcycle face mask and then put the leather mask over it, tying it around your head to keep it in place.
