Acer eRecovery Management is a backup software that can create recovery discs or restore the computer to its factory settings. The recovery discs reinstall the operating system and any proprietary software to the hard drive.
If you intend to install a new hard drive to the Acer PC, first create a set of recovery discs so that you can restore the operating system. After installing the OS, you can configure your user login and security settings.

Click "Start." Click "All Programs." Open the "Acer Empowering Technology" or "Acer" folder. Click "Acer eRecovery Management."
Click the "Setup" button. Click the "Create New Password" link. Input the desired password into the required fields, and then enter a hint according to the prompts. Click "OK."
Select "Backup." Click the "Full" button." Click "Create Factory Default Disk," and then click "Burn Disc."
Insert a blank DVD into the disc drive. Select the correct drive from the drop-down menu. Click "Next." Follow the on-screen directions to create the backup DVDs.
Turn on the computer after installing the new hard drive. Insert the first backup DVD.
Hold down the power button for at least 10 seconds to turn off the computer. Press the power button to turn the computer back on.
Press "F12" on the Acer logo screen to access the boot menu. Select "CD/DVDROM" or "IDE1" from the options.
Press "Enter" to begin installing Windows to the hard drive from the backup disc.
Log in to the primary account once installation is complete. Click "Start." Click "Control Panel."
Click "User Accounts and Family Safety." Click "User Accounts." Select "Change Your Password," "Change Your Picture" or "Change Your Account Name" to configure your user login.
Click "Change User Account Control Settings" to configure your computer's security settings. To keep the computer at the highest level of security, drag the slider to "Always Notify." To remove built-in security protection (not recommended), drag the slider to "Never Notify." Click "OK."
