How to unsubscribe to someone's Facebook status

When one of your friends posts a status update on Facebook, the message is posted to your news feed. If you subscribe to your friend's updates, you will also receive the updates via text messages. If you no longer want to receive status updates from one of your Facebook friends, you can hide him on your news feed and unsubscribe from his updates.

    Hide a Friend's Status Updates

    Log into your Facebook account.

    Click "Home" in the navigation bar at the top of the page.

  3. 3

    Click the small "x" that appears when you hover your mouse over the upper right of one of your friend's status updates.

    Click "Hide all by..." in the drop-down menu.

    Unsubscribe From a Friend's Status Updates

    Log into your Facebook account.

    Type your friend's name in the search box at the top of the page.

  3. 3

    Click your friend's name in the drop-down menu.

  4. 4

    Click "Unsubscribe from SMS updates" under your friend's profile picture.

Tips and warnings

  • You can also unsubscribe from your friend's status updates by responding to one of the updates with a text that says "Unsubscribe."
