In the "Pokemon HeartGold" and "Pokemon SoulSilver" versions, the Rock Tunnel of the Kanto region connects Lavender town and Cerulean City. Home to several rock and fighting-type Pokemon and trainers, this dark tunnel can seem like a maze if you don't know how to navigate through. Since you will need a few of your Pokemon's abilities to get through the tunnel, make sure you have a Pokemon with the "Flash," "Rock Climb" and "Rock Smash abilities before entering.

  1. 1

Travel to Lavender Town and head north through Route 10. At the end of Route 10, you should see the entrance to the Rock Tunnel. Make sure you have a Pokemon with the "Flash," "Rock Climb" and "Rock Smash abilities before entering the dark tunnel.

  2. 2

Enter the tunnel and use your Pokemon's "Flash" ability to illuminate the tunnel, allowing you to navigate.

  3. 3

Head left and keep walking until you reach your first flight of stairs leading downwards towards the basement level of the tunnel. Take the stairs.

  4. 4

Walk left until you see a large ledge with four rock ladders protruding out from the ledge. Make your way towards the last rock ladder on the far right and use the Pokemon's "Rock Climb" ability to make your way down the rock ladder.

  5. 5

Continue walking right until you reach a boulder. Use your Pokemon's "Rock Smash" ability to break the rocks up in your path. Head upwards and follow the tunnel around until you reach a ladder that takes you up towards the ground floor.

  6. 6

Walk upwards and take a right. You should see a bright light that leads you out of the Rock Tunnel, onto Route 9.
