SPSS is an application from IBM that lets you analyse databases and produce a document containing statistics. SPSS uses ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) to retrieve the data. ODBC is a Microsoft technology. Once SPSS is installed on your system, you need to manually configure the ODBC connection setting with the path to the database and security credentials. Getting your ODBC data into SPSS can be done by those with some computer know-how.

    Log onto your computer using an account with administrative rights. Click "Start," "Control Panel," "Administrative Tools" and "ODBC Settings."

    Click "ODBC Administrator" and "Add." Click the SPSS driver entry.

    Click "Select" and type in the name of the SPSS database and the path. Type in the Data Source Name and Description. Click "OK."

    Click "OK" and you will see the SPSS entry in the ODBC list.
