<p>Amazon.com extended the convenience of the "eBook" with the introduction of the Kindle wireless reading device. With this portable device, Kindle eBooks can be purchased, downloaded and read just about anywhere. This same functionality can be found on Android smart phones using the "Kindle for Android" application. This free app can be downloaded from the Android Market or the Amazon App Store, and then Kindle eBooks can be downloaded to the Android phone for convenient reading from any location.

    Download the Kindle for Android app from the Android Market or Amazon App Store if it's not already installed on the Android phone. The application will be installed automatically after the download is complete.

    Start the Kindle app on the Android phone. A prompt will be displayed during the initial start-up requesting the user's e-mail address and password associated with their Amazon.com account. Enter this information and then click the "Register" button.

    Select the menu button on the Android phone.

    Select "Archived Items" from the menu to view the list of Kindle books already owned, or select "Kindle Store" to find a new book.

    Select any book title from the "Archived Items" list and it will be downloaded to the Android phone. Books purchased from the Android phone will be downloaded after the purchase is complete.

Tips and warnings

  • Visit the Android Market or Amazon App Store to make sure the most recent version of the Kindle for Android app is installed. The software developers release frequent updates and enhancements to the software.
