How to Move BlackBerry Apps to an SD Card

Unlike some phone models, BlackBerry devices require applications to be loaded into the device memory in order use them. If you need to free up space in the BlackBerry's memory, you can use the BlackBerry App World application to move individual applications to the memory card. You will not be able to access applications stored on the memory card until you move them back to the device.

    Press the Menu key on the BlackBerry. The key will have the BlackBerry logo on it, It is located to the left of the trackball or trackpad.

    Scroll down to the "BlackBerry App World" application and select it. Wait for the application to load, then press the Menu key, Select "My World" from the menu.

    Scroll down to an application that you want to archive on the memory card.

    Press the Menu key and select "Archive" from the menu. After a few moments, you will see a confirmation message appear on the screen. Some applications will ask you to restart the device. Select "Reboot Now" if you are finished archiving applications, or select "Reboot Later" if you plan archive more applications.

Tips and warnings

  • The application will still be listed in the "My World" area of the BlackBerry App World. To reinstall the app, scroll to it, press the Menu button and select "Reinstall."
