You can purchase digital media for sale on iTunes using an iTunes gift card. Whether you received the gift card as a present or you purchased one for yourself, you can use the card to download items such as movies, music or books up to the full credit amount on the card. To use your gift card on iTunes, you need an Apple ID and a copy of the iTunes application on your computer.

Launch iTunes on your computer.
Click "iTunes" under "Store" in the left column of the window.
Click the "Sign In" button in the upper-right corner of the window if you are not already signed in to iTunes.
Enter your Apple ID and password in the appropriate boxes on the pop-up window and then click "Sign In."
Click "Redeem" under "QUICK LINKS" in the column on the right side of the window.
Enter the 16-digit code that is printed on the back of the card into the "Redeem Code" box. The code starts with the letter X.
Click the "Redeem" button. The amount of the gift card appears next to your account name in the upper-right corner of the window.
Click the "Buy" button next to any item you want to purchase on iTunes. The item is downloaded to iTunes on your computer and the purchase price of the item is deducted from the gift card credit total. The updated total is displayed next to your account name after every purchase.
