- Skill level:
Things you need
- Large paper
- Aluminium cans
- Hole punch
- Vinyl-coated fabric, such as Naugahyde
Draw a purse pattern onto the paper. To make a simple purse, draw a two rectangles, two square handles and two side panels. Cut the pattern out. Use this paper pattern to cut out an identical pattern on the vinyl fabric.
Cut out a square from another piece of paper and use as a stencil to draw squares onto the purse pattern. You can choose other shapes if you like, but squares are easiest to cut from the aluminium.
Clean and wash the soda cans. Remove the tops and botoms with scissors. Using the square paper as a guide, cut out multiple aluminium squares.
Arrange the aluminium shapes side by side on their corresponding boxes on the paper. Staple the aluminium squares together directly onto the paper. Do not overlap the pieces.
Hole punch along the edges of the sides. Sew the sides together through the holes using the wire.
Line the inside of the bag with the vinyl fabric pieces from step one. Use a glue gun or strong adhesive for best results.
