The Cisco PIX 515E is a piece of computer hardware that protects against malicious attacks against your network. Each Cisco device, including the PIX 515E, has built-in software that lets the network administrator make configuration changes. Should a configuration change be entered that needs to be altered at a later date, the network administrator can access the PIX 515E device and perform a factory settings reset.

    Access the Cisco PIX 515E device using a terminal console. Enter the device's network address and click "OK."

    Type your username and password into the console. This needs to be an account with elevated privileges. Click "OK."

    Type into the console the following line:

    "configure factory-default [ip_address [mask]]"

    Where ip_address and mask are the address and subnet mask of the Cisco PIX 515E.

    Reboot the Cisco PIX 515E device to complete the reset procedure.
