Sometimes signing onto Skype can lead to conversations you wish to avoid. Perhaps you owe your friend money that you cannot yet repay, for example, or simply do not wish to discuss a friend's baby's sleeping habits yet again. If your desire to avoid someone is only temporary, don't block her. Instead, simply hide yourself on Skype. Setting yourself as invisible prevents your contacts from seeing that you are online, helping you avoid undesired conversations.

Open Skype. Sign into the account on which you wish to hide.
Click the icon beside your name in the upper left portion of Skype. Since you are not yet hiding and invisible, this icon is most likely green with a white check mark inside. Clicking this icon brings up a list of available Skype statuses.
Click the "Invisible" status. The corresponding icon is white with a green ring around it -- which is exactly the same as if you were offline. To your contacts, it now appears that you have logged off.
Click the icon beside your name again when you are ready to stop hiding. This time, select "Available" from the list of options. Your contacts now see you come back online.
