Many individuals and businesses choose to use the vector graphics application Adobe Illustrator to create the graphics they need for their documents. Aside from creating simple shapes, Illustrator can also be used (as the name implies) to create real illustrations. One thing that people often want to draw is a human head. However, they often have a problem if they want to apply curly hair. Fortunately, there is a simple solution.

  1. 1

Start Illustrator. Select "File" from the menu and choose "Open." In the dialogue locate and open a file containing an illustrator head to which you want to add curly hair.

  2. 2

Select the "Spiral" tool from the toolbar on the left. In the dialogue at the top, set the "Stroke" to the colour and size you want for the hair. Go to the "Layers" panel and click the "New Layer" button.

  3. 3

Left-click and drag on the canvas to start the spiral. As you do this, hold down the "CTRL" key to adjust the curve of the curl you are making. Draw in all your curls this way and save your work.
