Hibernate is a power management mode the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA utilises to preserve battery life and save energy. When entering hibernation mode, the netbook writes the current state of the operating system to the hard drive and then powers off. When the computer is awakened from hibernation, the netbook restores Windows to its last state. Closing the lid enables hibernate on most netbook and notebook computers. If you prefer to keep the netbook awake even when the lid is closed, you can disable hibernation in the netbook's Power Options.
