How to Use VLC to Watch Stagevu

Updated February 21, 2017

When you want to watch a video on Stagevu, a free video-hosting website, you can view it with your Web browser, but you might prefer to stream the video with the free VLC application on your computer. This enables you to use the VLC interface to play, pause, rewind and fast-forward a video, instead of using the Stagevu website's video controls. VideoLan's VLC supports streaming audio and video, including videos saved as DivX files, which is the format Stagevu uses. You can easily use VLC to watch a Stagevu video.

Launch your Web browser.

Go to

Browse or search for a video to watch.

Click the thumbnail of a video to open its page. The video appears, with a "Download" button in the centre of the frame.

Right-click the "Download" button on the movie, and then select "Copy Link Location" or a similar command from the pop-up menu.

Launch VLC on your computer.

Click "File" from the VLC menu, and then click "Open Network." A dialogue box appears.

Right-click in the "URL" text box, and then select "Paste" from the pop-up menu to paste in the Stagevu video link.

Click "Open." The Stagevu video starts streaming and playing through VLC.
