Pew arrangements are often floral bouquets adorned with craft supplies that adhere with the wedding theme. The decor is positioned on the end of each or every other pew toward the centre aisle where the bride makes her way to the alter. Sometimes the decorations are removed and used at the reception facility to adorn the gift, cake or buffet tables. Shape the pew arrangements according to the chosen colour scheme for the wedding or to match the floral bouquets carried by the bride and bridesmaids.

Instructions

  1. 1

Wrap a 12-inch floral foam cone in white satin fabric and secure it by folding under the fabric edge and pressing pear-headed straight pins all the way into the foam.

  2. 2

Lay the centre of two 3-foot complementary ribbon colours on the wide end of the cone, over the seam and adhere with a dab of hot glue. Turn the cone over so the ribbon centre is on your work surface and bring the two ribbon ends to the front, cross them and twist, pull them tight, and secure the twisted cross-section with a pearl-headed straight pin.

  3. 3

Turn the cone back over, pull the ends of the ribbon, cross them, secure with a pin and turn the cone over again to repeat. Continue the process until the entire cone is decorated with a crisscross pattern of ribbon all the way to the narrow end of the cone. End at the back of the cone, secure with pins and hot glue, and trim any excess ribbon.

  4. 4

Soak the pew clip containing green floral foam in water for 1 minute when using fresh floral stems. Insert the stems, one at a time, until you have the desired bouquet arrangement. Use the same or similar flowers used in the bridal and bridesmaid bouquets. Add hanging ivy for a cascading look.

  5. 5

Press one 12-inch hyacinth stake into the wide end of the floral cone and press the opposite end into the floral foam contained in the pew clip, behind the flower arrangement. Add more security by hot gluing the stake in place. Hang the pew arrangement by clipping the holder over each pew end.

Tips and warnings

  • When using silk flowers for the arrangements, do not soak the pew clip floral foam. Ensure that using water in the pew clip is permissible with the ceremony venue.
