A tall pink "Muppets" character, Beaker is the assistant of Dr. Honeydew, whose experiments always seem to end up injuring Beaker. Beaker has been blown up, shrunk, cloned and turned invisible among other misfortunes, yet he always manages to come back for the next disastrous lab experiment. Go the mascot route when constructing a Beaker costume by creating a large pink Beaker head complete with his crazy red hair and big red nose. Pair your Beaker head with a lab coat, shirt, tie and khaki trousers, which can be found by browsing consignment or thrift stores.

  1. 1

Measure and cut a piece of high density craft foam so that is about 1 3/4 feet long and 10 to 11 inches wide, though you will probably have to make adjustments to these dimensions depending on your head size. Use a craft knife to cut the foam.

  2. 2

Bring the long sides of the foam piece together into the cylindrical shape of Beaker's tall, thin head. Overlap one end of the foam over the other about a 1/2 inch and glue it together using hot glue. Allow to the foam to dry for about 10 minutes, then cut a 4 1/2-inch frowning mouth out of the foam with a knife about 5 to 7 inches from the bottom of the head. Glue a piece of black mesh screen to the inside of the head --- this is what you will see out of.

  3. 3

Cover the rest of the head with hot glue and place pink construction paper or pink fleece material around the entire head cylinder. Glue a medium to large plastic bowl to the top of the head with hot glue, dome side up and glue red furry hair material all over the bowl. Use a bowl with a diameter that is the same as that of the pink cylinder.

  4. 4

Sand two foam balls to flatten one side each and use for Beaker's eyes. Paint them with white and black paint and glue them just under the red hair with hot glue. Sand one side of another foam ball, paint it red and glue it under the eyes as Beaker's nose.

  5. 5

Put on a shirt and tie, khaki trousers and a lab coat. Wear saddle oxford shoes. Place the Beaker head over your head. Make any necessary adjustments should you not be able to see out of the head as well as you would like.
