Mini beaded headdress pins are made with small safety pins, long oval spaghetti beads and pony beads. Make your own miniature Indian chief headdress with white, turquoise, red and silver beads. A feather dangle charm can be added to the bottom front of the headdress for a cute Indian-themed decoration. After you have made your headdress you can attach a safety pin to the top so that you can attach it to your bag.

Instructions

  1. 1

Slide one white spaghetti bead and one turquoise pony bead onto each of nine safety pins.

  2. 2

Cut two 5-inch pieces of the 24 gauge jewellery wire with wire cutters. Slide a 4-millimeter round silver bead onto one of the wires. Bend the end of the wire into a small hook to keep the bead from falling off. Slide a red pony bead onto the wire and let it fall next to the silver bead. Insert the straight end of the wire into the hole at the head of a beaded safety pin and pull it through. String on a red pony bead onto the wire. Insert the wire through the head of another beaded safety pin and string on a red pony bead.

  3. 3

Keep adding red pony beads and inserting the wire through the head of a beaded safety pin until all nine of the beaded safety pins are threaded on the wire. String the last red pony bead onto the wire. String the other 4-millimeter silver round bead onto the wire. Make a hook on the straight end of the wire to keep the beads and safety pins from falling off.

  4. 4

Slide a silver feather charm and a 4-millimeter silver bead onto the second wire -- the feather charm first so it sits at the bottom of the wire. Make a hook with the end of the wire to keep the charm and bead from sliding off. Insert the wire through the circle at the end of the first beaded safety pin. Add a silver bead and insert the wire through the end of the next beaded safety pin. Keep adding silver beads and inserting the wire through the end of the beaded safety pins until all nine safety pins have been threaded onto the second wire and 10 silver beads have been strung onto it.

  5. 5

Slide the other silver feather charm onto the end of the second wire. Bend the end of the wire into the hook.

  6. 6

Bend the ends of the safety pin and beaded wires in toward each other to make a U shape with the beaded safety pins to form the headdress. If done right, the feathers should be hanging down from the bottom front of the headdress.

  7. 7

Insert the end of each wire back up through the closest beads strung to hide it. If the wire is too long, trim it and hide it inside of a bead. To make your mini headdress a pin, open the top middle pin of the headdress. Slide a safety pin onto it by inserting the beaded pin's pointed end through the end hole of the other pin and then close the beaded pin.
