Facebook's "Share" feature allows users to re-post their friend's quotes or links to their own profile. When you do this, the original poster's name will appear on the re-post as a link to their profile. Facebook notifies you when a friend re-posts one of your updates or links. However, if you want to search for shared links from weeks or months ago, the easiest way is to do a Facebook search for your name.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Log into your Facebook account at

  2. 2

Find the "Search" box at the top of the screen and type a key phrase from the post you want to find. Press the magnifying glass symbol to conduct the search.

  3. 3

Click "Posts by Friends" to the left side of the search results to see which of your friends have re-posted your update or link. For a wider search, try clicking "Posts by everyone." The search results will display a list of people who have re-posted your update or link.

Tips and warnings

  • If too many search results come back, try searching the key phrase and your first name as it appears on your Facebook profile.
