Placemats protect the table and keep children entertained. ( Images)

Restaurant placemats not only keep the table clean, they help keep children entertained while they wait for their food to arrive. Whether you are creating kids' placemats for your own restaurant or restaurant style placemats for your own home, the placemats will need to include a variety of games and activities to keep kids busy. Placemats for restaurants should have one side printed with business information, such as the restaurant's history, or a child's menu, while the other side should be dedicated to keeping kids engaged and entertained.

  1. 1

Brainstorm themes for the placemats, such as a super hero theme, a garden theme or even a food theme.

  2. 2

Draw an outline of a scene or drawing depicting your theme. This will serve as a colouring page for children to decorate as they wish. For example, draw the outline of a superhero character, a tree or even an ice cream cone.

  3. 3

Create a series of small games and activities around the border of the picture colouring portion of the placemat.

  4. 4

Make a word search, using words associated with your theme, or use words related to the restaurant's food such as cheeseburger, ice cream or pizza.

  5. 5

Add a line at the bottom for the child to sign or print his name on the placemat.
