Sony offers a wide variety of televisions in different price ranges, but some specifications remain the same between all models. The power cord used by Sony is a standard IEC three-prong cable. These cables are used for almost every computer tower, monitor and television being sold in the United States. So while replacing some Sony parts may require you to buy proprietary pieces, the IEC power cord can be purchased at most electrical and home improvement stores.

Instructions

  1. 1

Locate the power cord on the rear input panel of your Sony television. The rear input panel is on the bottom right side when facing the back of the television.

  2. 2

Remove the old IEC power cord by gripping the plug on the back of the television and pulling down firmly. The three-prong connector disconnects from the TV.

  3. 3

Plug in the new IEC power cord by pressing the female end of the cord up into the power input of the television with the angled side of the plug facing you.

  4. 4

Plug the male end of the IEC power cord into a standard wall outlet to provide power to the television.
