Shiny, hydrated soft skin is the result of careful pampering and a sign of good health. After all, no one wants dull, dry skin. Shiny legs can be achieved with the right lotion, but it takes more than that to keep them healthy-looking. Beauty comes from within, and therefore the way your skin looks is a reflection of your health. Establish a beauty routine, and you can show off those shiny legs in no time.

    Drink about 8 glasses of water each day to keep skin moisturised from within. In addition, take multivitamins, or eat lots of fruits and vegetables to keep skin healthy and hydrated.

    Wash your legs in the shower using a loofah or sponge and a moisturising shower gel. You don't want skin to feel tight after a shower or bath which already dries it out, especially if you use really hot water. If possible, shower using warm or cool water as long, hot showers rob skin of moisture and protective oils.

    Exfoliate the skin on your legs using a scrub or scrubbing gloves. Rub your skin, especially on the dry spots, such as your knees and the insides of your thighs.This will eliminate dead skin cells that make skin to look dry and flaky.

    Shave your legs with shaving cream. You can substitute shaving cream with a hair conditioner, which will also moisturise and protect skin against nicks and bumps. Use a razor with a moisturising strip for best results. A fresh shave leaves your skin extra smooth.

    Pat legs dry with a towel after a bath or shower. Apply lotion immediately, while skin is still a bit wet and can absorb moisture well. If using regular lotion, choose one for dry skin, or preferably one that adds a subtle shimmer. Wait until skin is dry if you are using self-tanning lotion and make sure to spread it evenly onto your legs. Self-tanning lotions also have shimmer in them that creates a natural glow. Slightly tanned skin looks healthier as compared to dull, pale skin.

    Apply body oil, such as baby oil, to your legs to make them even shinier. Oil can be used on top of the regular lotion, but if you are using self-tanning lotion, wait about 5 to 10 minutes until it is completely dry.

    Use sunscreen if heading outside for a day at the beach. The sun and salty ocean water dry your skin so you may need to reapply lotion or oil during the day. Using a sunscreen moisturises skin even more, and protects it against dangerous ultraviolet rays of the sun.
