A teddy bear costume is simple and fun to make. With a few household items, you can bring to life the fuzzy, sweet bear from your childhood. Whether you are going to a Halloween party or dressing your child up for a school play, this costume is easy on the eyes and the budget.
- Skill level:
Things you need
- Brown sweatshirt
- Brown sweatpants
- White felt
- Pillow stuffing
- Safety pins
- Brown plastic head band
- Clear tape or craft glue
- Brown and white construction paper
Put on the brown sweatpants and sweatshirt as you would any outfit.
Cut out a round piece of felt big enough to cover the belly section of your sweatshirt.
Before attaching the white section of felt to your sweatshirt, put the pillow stuffing in between the shirt and the felt to create the look of a round tummy.
Pin or sew the white felt to the sweatshirt on the belly area.
Cut out two 6-by-4-inch round ears with flat bottoms to attach to the head band.
Cut out two white ear-shaped pieces that are about 1 inch smaller than the brown ear pieces.
Glue the white pieces in the centre of the brown ones.
Tape or glue the ear pieces to the brown headband so they stick straight up off of your head.
Put the headband on your head.
Colour the tip of your nose with brown eyeliner or costume make-up.
Tips and warnings
- Wear white or brown shoes with this costume.
- The colours could be replaced with any colour you choose -- get creative, especially if you are making a Care Bear costume.
- You can attach cardboard to the ears to make them a little more sturdy if you feel that is necessary.
