The Okidata C3200N printer requires periodic drum replacement, and the machine conveniently keeps track of which drums it's time to replace and reminds you on the screen with a message. You may wish to override this message. For example, the message may display even after you have replaced the drum, or you may have inspected the drum and determined that it is working correctly, and simply want to remove the message from the display panel.

Instructions

  1. 1

Turn the printer off completely by pressing and holding the power button.

  2. 2

Press and hold both the up and the down menu buttons at the same time and keep them held down while you press the power button to turn on the machine. Wait until the display shows the message "OKI USER" before you release the menu buttons.

  3. 3

Press the down menu button until the line "Engine Dialog Mode" is highlighted and press the "Enter" button.

  4. 4

Press the down menu button until the line "NV-Ram" is highlighted and press the "Enter" button. The display should show the message "NV-Ram-Initial Table 1."

  5. 5

Press and hold both the "ONLINE" and "Enter" buttons at the same time and hold them for more than 10 seconds after the message "Executing Reset" is displayed on the screen, then release both buttons.

  6. 6

Press and hold the power button to power down the printer. Once it has shut down completely, press the power button to restart the printer once more. The drum life will now be reset to 100 per cent and the drum replacement message should no longer appear.

Tips and warnings

  • Resetting the drum life will also reset the toner and fuser life in the machine, which could make it difficult to know when the other supplies need to be replaced.
