Sony Vaio laptops are shipped with a "recovery partition." A recovery partition is a section of the hard drive that is not accessible by the regular file system, that contains files to restore the computer to factory defaults. The recovery partition will allow the user to reinstall the operating system along with any pre-installed software and drivers without having the installation disks. The Sony Vaio recovery partition may be accessed using the Vaio Recovery Wizard.
