VDI files are Oracle VM VirtualBox files. VirtualBox is an open-source desktop virtualisation application that allows the user to virtually mount a hard disk with an operating system different from the one running the computer. VirtualBox may be compared to applications such as VMWare or Virtual PC. To run VDI files, download and install the freely distributed Oracle VM VirtualBox software from www.virtualbox.org. VirtualBox is available for Windows, Mac and Linux-based computers.
