How to Run VDI Files

VDI files are Oracle VM VirtualBox files. VirtualBox is an open-source desktop virtualisation application that allows the user to virtually mount a hard disk with an operating system different from the one running the computer. VirtualBox may be compared to applications such as VMWare or Virtual PC. To run VDI files, download and install the freely distributed Oracle VM VirtualBox software from VirtualBox is available for Windows, Mac and Linux-based computers.

    Download and install the version of VirtualBox for your operating system.

    Open the VDI file with the VirtualBox software. VirtualBox will mount the VDI file and enable access to the "guest" operating system on in the VDI file through your operating system.
