How to Wire a DEH-P7000BT
Before installing the Pioneer DEH-P7000BT make sure you have the right tools and an aftermarket wiring harness. (Ryan McVay/Digital Vision/Getty Images)

The DEH-P7000BT, manufactured by Pioneer Electronics, is a single-DIN size aftermarket automobile stereo. The DEH-P7000BT features Bluetooth capability, iPod connectivity via a USB plug, three-band equaliser with six preset tone settings and a built-in amplifier. Further expansion of your vehicle's sound system, whether adding additional amplifiers or subwoofers, can be accomplished through the DEH-P7000BT multiple RCA pre-outs. Connecting the device to your vehicle is done using a vehicle-specific wiring harness that eliminates the need to identify each individual wire.

Skill level:

Things you need

  1. 1

Connect a vehicle-specific wiring harness to the Pioneer DEH-P7000BT by matching each of the coloured wires together, twisting their ends together and wrapping each connection with electrical tape.

  2. 2

Disconnect the black negative battery cable from the vehicle's battery using a crescent wrench.

  3. 3

Remove the plastic bezel that surrounds the factory stereo using a screwdriver to gently pry it away from the dashboard. Remove the screws that secure the factory stereo to the dashboard using a screwdriver. Slide the stereo out away from the stereo opening exposing its wires. Disconnect the factory stereo wiring harness from the vehicle wiring harness by unplugging them.

  4. 4

Slide the metal sleeve that accompanied the DEH-P7000BT into an aftermarket stereo mounting kit designed specifically for your vehicle. Secure the metal sleeve to the mounting bracket using a screwdriver to bend the metal tabs around the outer edge of the sleeve. Secure the mounting bracket with metal sleeve into the vehicle's stereo opening using a screwdriver and the screws removed earlier.

  5. 5

Plug the vehicle-specific wiring harness that is connected to the DEH-P7000BT into the vehicle wiring harness. Slide the DEH-P7000BT into the mounting bracket and secure it in place using a screwdriver.

  6. 6

Press the plastic bezel that surrounds the stereo back into place. Reattach the black negative battery cable to the vehicle's battery.
