Phiten titanium necklaces come in fabric or rubberised forms. The fabric necklaces undergo a process of permeation with a titanium dye. Once applied to the fabric, it does not wash out or fade away. According to Phiten and the professional athletes who speak for the product, Phiten titanium necklaces help increase performance and reduce muscle pain. The Phiten necklaces come in a variety of sizes ranging from 18 to 26 inches. You can shorten a Phiten Star or X30 necklace by hand. However, if you purchased one of the rubberised Phiten necklaces, you will have to return the necklace and order a smaller size.

  1. 1

Move the rubber slide away from the clasp to expose the tail of the fabric loop that connects the necklace to the clasp.

  2. 2

Use a seam ripper or embroidery scissors to cut the stitches holding the loop tail to the necklace body.

  3. 3

Hold onto the loose end, while you open the clasp and put on the necklace.

  4. 4

Pull the loose necklace string, until you achieve the length desired.

  5. 5

Secure the end to the necklace using a pin. This will hold the desired length, while you complete the remaining steps.

  6. 6

Sew a new loop 1/2 inch away from the clasp. Pass the needle through both the body of the necklace and the new tail.

  7. 7

Cut off the excess necklace near the new stitching.

  8. 8

Move the rubber slide up to cover the new loop tail.

Tips and warnings

  • If you want to preserve the extra length instead of cutting it off, move the rubber slide below the tip of the extra portion, slip the end through the rubber slide and adjust as desired. This will keep the extra length from sticking out or becoming caught on your clothing.
