Each Dell Precision computer is equipped with a basic input/output system, or BIOS, utility that you can use to configure a wide array of hardware settings. Password-protecting the BIOS prevents unauthorised users from making changes. Reset the password often to help keep it secure.

    Restart the Dell Precision computer. Turn the system on if it is currently off.

    Press the "F2" key repeatedly when the Dell logo shows up on the screen until the BIOS screen appears.

    Type the current BIOS admin password into the provided field. Press "Enter" to enter the BIOS.

    Press the arrow keys to navigate to the "Security" tab. Press "Enter."

    Press the arrow keys to navigate to "Set Supervisor Password." Press "Enter."

    Type the current admin password in the first field. Type the new password in the next two fields. Press "Enter."
