In the heat of battle, the last thing you want is frame rate lag. Slow frame rates can be a death sentence in fast-paced games like "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," and at the very least make your gaming experience more frustrating than fun. There are a few simple methods for improving your frame rate while playing this game. Faster frame rates give you smother performance and make the game much easier to play.

Instructions

  1. 1

Update the drivers for your graphics card. Old drivers can cause a number of problems, like corruption and slow frame rates. Check the manufacturer's website for driver downloads.

  2. 2

Close any programs running in the background on your computer. Fewer programs allow your system to devote more resources to your game.

  3. 3

Click the "Options" button on the main menu screen and select "Graphics."

  4. 4

Turn "Texture Quality," "Reflection Resolution," "Water Quality," "Shadow Quality" and "Render Quality" down to their lowest setting.

  5. 5

Decrease the view and detail distances and lower the vehicle density.

  6. 6

Hit the "Enter" key to save your changes. Lower settings will improve your frame rate at the cost of visual quality.

Tips and warnings

  • One of the best methods for improving game performance is upgrading your system. More RAM and a new graphics card can make a world of difference when it comes to computer gaming.
