Make an eye-catching neon bracelet using materials such as twine, parachute cord and utility cord. Nylon seine twine works well for a friendship bracelet as it comes in a range of vibrant colours, including lime green, neon yellow and bright pink. It's also known as chalk or mason line and is easily available from hardware stores or a range of online outlets. Simple items found around the home, such as a washer and hemp twine, can also help make a fashionable piece of neon jewellery.

Instructions

    Neon Friendship Bracelet

  1. 1

Cut four strands of neon nylon twine, 60 inches in length. Tie them together in a knot.

  2. 2

Attach the twine to a clipboard so it is held in place. This will make it easier to carry out the knotting technique.

  3. 3

Separate the strands slightly, so they are next to each other, and assign each a number. The first strand on the left is number one; the next one is number two, and so on. The two outside strands, numbered one and four, are the working strands. The two middle strands, numbered two and three, do not move. As you knot, the outside strands will become shorter while the middle strands will stay the same length.

  4. 4

Place strand one over strand two and three and under strand four, leaving a small loop at the left. Pass strand four under strand two and three and over strand one so it threads through the loop.

  5. 5

Repeat this process again. Pull strands one and four, the outside strands, tightly together so the first knot is formed. Continue to repeat this process until the bracelet is long enough.

  6. 6

Tie a large knot at the end of the bracelet. This will be the button to hook into the loop you created at the start of the bracelet and will keep it fastened to your wrist.

    Stackable Neon Bracelet

  1. 1

Cut a 15-inch strand of the utility cord, a 7-inch strand of pink parachute cord and a 7-inch strand of yellow parachute cord. Double up the utility cord and thread the loose ends about an inch through the loop of the spring snap.

  2. 2

Fold the inch of utility cord over, and place one end of both the pink and yellow cord on top of it. Cut a 3-inch strip of neon tape and bind all three cords together, so they are fastened to the spring snap.

  3. 3

Tie an 8-inch piece of hemp string in a knot, just below the neon tape, and wrap it around all three cords. Knot at the end to secure.

  4. 4

Wrap an 8-inch piece of hemp string at the other end, securing all cords together. Slip the washer onto the end, so that the utility cord loop pokes through. This is the receiving end of the fastener.
